I live on a working cattle ranch. My husband is always tracking in dirt and mud. I also have a 3 year old son that thinks the house is his trash can. I do not have a stitch of carpet in my house. Pulling out the broom and dust mop is getting to be a real pain because of my 3 month old. We all have allergies, so sweeping just makes us miserable. Any advice?

I'm a college student and my dorm next fall semester is going to be pretty small. I would love to have a vacuum and thought of a stick vac. I'm not too familiar though with the stick vacuum products. My dorm room is carpet but I want to get one that will also be good with hardwood floors. Lastly like I said I am a college student so I need to get the best bang for my buck.
