The floor of Borderlands Books had been polished to mirror brightness. A nice trick with old knotty pine, but Penauch would have been a weapons-grade obsessive-compulsive if he’d been human. I’d thought about setting him to detailing my car, but he’s just as likely to polish it down to aluminum and steel after deciding the paint was an impurity. When he discovered that the human race recorded our ideas in books, he’d been impossible to keep away from the store. Penauch didn’t actually read them, not as such, and he was most reluctant to touch the volumes. He seemed to view books as vehicles, launch capsules to propel ideas from the dreaming mind of the human race into our collective forebrain. Despite the fact that Penauch was singular, unitary, a solitary alien in the human world, he apparently didn’t conceive of us as anything but a collective entity. The xenoanthropologists at Berkeley were carving Ph.D.s out of that particular clay as fast as their grad students could transcribe…

I’m really diggin’ it. There are so many small sec. segments that could make for bitchin’ remixes. I appreciate that. =) :44 – :58 for example. Anyone feel like collaborating?
underwater filming is normally done from a small boat, with a camera on a long pole. the pole is pushed into the water, and they can then push it right into the animals face. the same method is used when filming great white sharks, and thats how i know thats what they do, i saw it in a documentary.

ummm. no
The time distance between the second and third games is only about 50 years, not 500. Anyways, with the current info about the game, it might seem like a SimCity game or something, but you have to remember, Peter Molyneaux is known for promising something in one of his games, then having it removed sometime during development.

The answer to this question depends on which vehicle you get.
Newer EVs may have advanced battery technology like NIMH or Li-Ion batteries, which in most cases require no maintenance.
On the other hand, an older EV with flooded lead-acid batteries will need water levels checked monthly, periodic balancing charges, and battery replacement every 3 to 8 years.
Likewise, newer EVs use AC motors, which literally require zero maintenance. An older EV with a DC motor may need brushes replaced after about 80,000 miles.
In any event, it's not very much maintenance to worry about. You will have to attend to brakes, tires, and similar components that exist on typical cars.
But there will be no tune-ups, oil changes, radiator flushes, or other engine maintenance to worry about.
When considering total cost of ownership, find out your electric rate. Some utilities (like mine here in Michigan) have special EV charging rates. Take the number of miles you drive per month, and figure out your fuel costs for both a typical car, and an EV (I usually figure 4 miles per kilowatt-hour, that's close to what an EV would use.)
If your EV uses modern battery technology, find out what the batteries are warranted for, and what the trade-in value is. Many newer batteries are warranted for 100,000 miles, or even longer. If you plan to trade the car before this point, battery cost may not even be a factor for you.
Older battery technology is not so long lived. I have a pack of 16 flooded batteries in my EV, that will probably last me 8 years. Buying in bulk, with old batteries to trade in, my cost is about $800 to replace them. That makes my average cost per year for batteries about $100.

Fable creator Peter Molyneux is going to piss you off. Later this week at Microsoft’s X10 conference, Molyneaux is going to reveal something about Fable III that you will not like. In a recent interview, the gaming visionary said: “There’s some very, very big things happening in Fable. Bigger than you think, and it’s going to really going to upset people. I’m really scared. When I go out and tell people what it is, they’re going to get super pissed off. They really are. But it’s the right thing to do.” Below are TheFeed’s thoughts on what Molyneux may have in mind: Jake Gaskill: The only thing I can think of that would really cause the kind of up-in-arms reaction that Peter Molyneux is expecting is near-100 percent Natal integration. So many gamers are chomping at the bit to tear Natal apart, and I think seeing one of Microsoft’s most acclaimed first-party franchises adopt Natal right at the beginning of its life cycle would provide the perfect catalyst for it. Of course, when I try…

I so agree with you. I so hope ”Voices That Care” isn’t remade because that ”We Are the World” remake was incredibly HORRIBLE. I know the song was made for a good cause, but you telling me no one couldn’t write anything that was original?

We put Bruce hardwoods (by andersen floors) in our new home in kitchen, dr, and great room. They are interlocking floors. WE love them. We have carpet in the BR and family room to add warmth.
We have not yet had a problem w/ scratching, though I dropped a heavy jar candle and it did add a little dent. I told my husband it added charm…he didn't agree =)
Thank you FFeeps for your collective intelligence/advice/guilt
I have installed hardwood flooring before but I glued it down instead of nailing it. I’m about to start a new project and would like to nail it down. I don’t like the idea of face nailing anything but the first row of boards. Isn’t there a better way? Why can’t you just pre-drill holes above the tongue and nail the second row into the floor and joist below?
For the sake of asking. 90% hydrogen water? Unless it has an extra neutron isn’t that just water?
Yes, this is cupping caused by the water. The damaged areas, if severe, may need to be torn out and toothed back in. There should not be a need to tear out all of the floor. As for refinishing, I would recommend having the entire floor sanded if there are no breaks in the floor. The newly sanded would look very different than the new after 13 years should you elect to only sand part. This may be an insurance claim, so check with a local “Paul Davis Restoration” company or similar restoration Co.

Here are some of the things I do, mostly on a yearly basis:
1. Flush the hot water tank
2. Get a HVAC guy to inspect the A/C and furnace
3. Oil the rollers on the garage door
4. Put down crabgrass control in the early spring, weed control in the late spring, insect control on summer and winterizer in the fall for your lawn. (Scott's four step program).
5. Clean the grease filter (screen) above the stove
6. Replace the batteries on the smoke/CO2 detectors
7. Clean the leaves out of the gutters
Hope this helps!

It certainly is not necessary. Although, I would not advise bringing it to jiffy lube either. A good independent mechanic can certainly save on labor. Some lexus's dealers charge 120 per hour for labor or more. You pay a lot for some very fancy showrooms and waiting areas that include coffee and free apples etc.
